Gabeba Baderoon is a poet and literary scholar. She is the author of the poetry collections, The Dream in the Next Body, A hundred silences and The History of Intimacy. She has also written on religion, gender and race in South Africa in the book, Regarding Muslims: from Slavery to Post-apartheid. Baderoon’s most recent collection, The History of Intimacy, was awarded the Elisabeth Eybers Prize, the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences Award for Poetry and Short Stories and the University of Johannesburg Award for South African Writing in English.
