Angie Butler was born and educated in Johannesburg. She moved to England in her mid twenties and lives in Warwickshire with her husband the sculptor James Butler RA, father of their five daughters. She is the co-founder of the travel company Ice Tracks Expeditions named after her first book, Ice Tracks, Today’s Heroic Age of Polar Adventure. Her highly acclaimed second book, The Quest for Frank Wild, was the subject of a BBC documentary. Her most recent book on polar explorer Eric Marshall, Shackleton’s Critic, co-authored with polar historian Beau Riffenburg is published at the end of the year. She is currently working on a book set in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
